Janet E. (MacGillivray) Copestakes, 73, died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association Hospice House.
She was born Aug. 27, 1936, in Brighton, Mass., daughter of Joseph and Marcella (Hanrahan) MacGillivray. She attended schools in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada, and moved to Boston, where she worked in the insurance field for 20 years before moving to Concord, where she worked for New Hampshire Association for the Blind and Downtown Concord.
She was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Concord, member and past president of the Zonta Club of Concord, member of the board of directors of the New Hampshire Gathering of the Scottish Clans, past chief convener of the St. Andrew’s Society of New Hampshire, board member of the Scottish Scholarship Fund of New Hampshire, board member and treasurer of The Friendly Kitchen, board member of Concord Community Concert Association, former chairwoman of the Advisory Council of Merrimack County RSVP and in 2004, along with her husband, received the Joseph D
